About Us

Training arm for the Australia Distillers Association

Welcome to the National Distilling Institute, established in 2023 with the support of the Victorian Government through the Victorian Distillery Door program. The National Distilling Institute is dedicated to the learning journey of distillers across Victoria and Australia.

In collaboration with the Spirits Victoria Association and the Australian Distillers Association, we aim to create a one-stop shop for distillery courses, covering all areas of the distilling industry—from safety and complaints to sensory and business. These courses are delivered in-house and by third-party education companies worldwide to support you on your learning journey.

At the National Distilling Institute, we believe in providing more than just courses; we offer a holistic experience. Our journey begins with the curious novice and extends to the seasoned professional. Accredited Courses

Our accredited courses are developed in collaboration with industry experts and experienced distillers across Australia, ensuring the training is practical, relevant, and aligned with real workplace expectations. Designed to meet nationally recognised standards, these courses provide learners with the skills and knowledge required to work confidently and competently in the distilling and food and beverage industries. Delivered with a strong focus on industry practice, our training supports both new entrants and experienced workers looking to formalise their skills through recognised qualifications.

Certificate IV Artisan Fermented Products (FBP40621)

Take the next step in your distilling career with the Certificate IV in Artisan Fermented Products (FBP40621). 
This nationally recognised course is designed for people working in distilleries who want to build their skills in producing products for distillation. You’ll gain hands-on knowledge of fermentation, quality control, and managing small-scale production processes relevant to artisan spirits.

INTRODUCTION TO DISTILLERY SAFETY

Take the first step in strengthening your knowledge of safe distillery operations with the Introduction to Distillery Safety course.

This industry-designed program provides practical, relevant safety training for anyone working in or entering the distilling industry.
You’ll learn the essential safety requirements, regulations, and workplace practices needed to work confidently and responsibly in a distillery environment.

Upon completion of this course and all required assessments, participants will obtain a Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment for the unit of competency FBPWHS3001 Contribute to Work Health and Safety Processes.
